Panic! At The Bathhouse

Quezon City has shut down the party.

F Club was forced to halt operations after it allegedly refused to cooperate in the city’s mpox contact tracing efforts. In a statement, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said the local government considers the bathhouse’s supposed refusal a threat to the safety and well-being of its residents. In its own statement, F Club said it “will hold operations until further notice” as “mpox preventive measures are taking place.”

But it’s unclear how F Club supposedly stonewalled the Quezon City government on contact tracing. It’s important to note that the bathhouse is a membership club, so they probably have a list of patrons who entered their establishment which, in theory, they could simply present to authorities.

Quezon City also referred to “Department of Health instructions for possible mpox transmission.” What these instructions were, we don’t know for sure.

Speaking of instructions, the DOH has issued new guidelines on mpox. In advising against close and intimate, skin-to-skin contact, the DOH listed “sexual contact, kissing, hugging, and cuddling” as activities to avoid with people who may — or actually are — infected with mpox.

A lot of people are still very much traumatized from Covid, so it’s more than reasonable that male spas have implemented extra precautions, while some orgy organizers have decided to cancel events and moved to virtual events.

It’s important to note that mpox is not exclusively transmitted through sexual contact. Still, since sex is one way of getting infected, we have to go back to the perennial advice of sexual health experts: You protect your community when you protect yourself.

Before she flopped, Katy Perry once said, “I guess it’s never really over.”

These words have never been truer now for Jude Bacalso who has been slapped with a string of complaints by the restaurant server who misgendered her.

Aided by lawyer Ron Ivan Gingoyon, the waiter filed unjust vexation, grave scandal, grave coercion, grave threats, and slight illegal detention complaints against Bacalso, according to Cebu Daily News.

Gingoyon was quoted by Manila Bulletin saying that the waiter “is still traumatized but he’s trying to co-exist with the community.” “We’re also helping him but the incident has severe effects on his mental state,” he continued.

There’s been a lot of thing said about Bacalso and this incident, with some even resorting to deliberately misgendering her. But as Bahaghari chairperson Reyna Valmores said, “Two wrongs do not make a right.”

“We can state that people need not be punished so harshly after misgendering someone on accident and that misgendering is wrong, and must be corrected,” she said.

It has been said time and again that people should not send hate to queens, even if they didn’t like their behavior on the show. And it is being said again now as people are getting increasingly annoyed at J Quinn, especially after her comments following Yudipota’s walkout during their lip sync.

Therapists always say that what you feel is valid, but how you act on that feeling might not be. So before harassing any queen you don’t like, maybe step back and remember that they are humans who were under intense pressure while filming which may have made them act in ways that were unpleasant.
